WI Artisan was born out frustration. As a proud West Indian, it was disappointing that we seem to be losing what makes us us. There used to be a time when furniture was crafted by skilled hands, decor and functional home items were passed down as heirlooms and food was grown in our backyards and transformed into culinary delights celebrated around the world. As we have developed and embraced modern conveniences, we may be inadvertently losing our connections to our West Indian heritage. The authenticity of our food, house designs and home decor products seem to be slipping away with each passing generation.

We still have artisans here in the region that make products that match or surpass the best crafted products from around the world, but they remain underground, known only to a select few. WI Artisan seeks to bring these high quality, attractive products to the masses, reigniting pride in our unique stories, and telling the stories of the hands that made them. We believe West Indians want to retain the uniqueness of our heritage, but usher our traditions into the modern era. WI Artisan will help pave the way.
